About Earth Children:
Earth Children is an all gender community/villaging gathering for children, ages 4 - 10 accompanied by a parent/mentor. These circles will gather as a seasonal registered series that runs approximately twice monthly on Sunday afternoons from 1-4pm. There will be a Summer season and a Winter season with a few weeks of break over Winter Solstice and then again Spring Equinox.

This circle has been created as a safe haven for the growth and mentorship of our children in the village/community. It serves as an introduction to the concepts of self nurturing, and empowerment in alignment with our spiritual nature and the Earth.
The program is designed to include a parent/mentor to accompany each child. This helps to establish consistency of the things we learn about within the home or significant relationship for the child. Villaging begins in the home and within the relationships in the home. We endeavor to provide space and activities that you can bring your children along to, rather than those which you send them away to.
Children of all ages will benefit from being introduced to the concept of a council sharing circle from a young age, being surrounded by mentors on many levels and from a variety of stages of life. This way they will learn a variety of skills, gather various tools, and build broad relationships with those participating, in a secure environment.

Just as we seek strength and support from our village, we can help create similar webs of support for our children. This network of support allows the young ones to go forth into life feeling infinitely loved, a little less misunderstood and rooted within a garden of guidance, wisdom and friendship. Opportunity has arisen for our stories and knowledge to be passed down in this sacred space.

What we do:

Each gathering will open with a group circle of connection and sharing. Children and adults will all be encouraged to share in the circle together. Generally, we will then discuss our topic as a large group and following, divide off into smaller groups, for related activities, crafts and play. There will be a potluck snack time as well, for which each family is encouraged to bring one snack to share.
Activities and crafts will be seasonal, but we plan to spend as much time out doors as possible, as weather permits. Participants should be prepared for any weather however, and for getting 'dirty' and using paint etc.
Some of the activities may include:
~ Herb/plant walks
~ Mud kitchen
~ Nature Crafts
~ Making herbal recipes and remedies
~ Journaling
~ Building your personal toolkit: tea blends, natural hygiene products, sage/smudge bundles, sleep pillows, sacred scent, etc
~ Intuitive painting
~ Emotion awareness and release
~ Growing and nurturing plants
~ Learning about local wildlife
~ Yoga and breath work
~ Chakra and energy body connection
~ Understanding your astrological sign and its effect on you
~ Connecting with the spirit of plants and animals
~ Connecting with the elementals, building a Faery house
~ Learning basic skills: basic sewing, baking, fire building
~ Connection to the seasons and cycles
~ The importance of Moon and how to connect with her

On Children
Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
